From May 16 to 23, twelve severely disabled Israeli army veterans will leave Israel for the Nantes region.
All have a common passion for cycling and are members of the Bet Halochem cycling association. They meet three times a week for training on a bicycle adapted to their handicap on the Tel Aviv seafront.
This trip to Nantes will thus be an opportunity to change the environment. It will take place on a barge fitted out for people with disabilities, with five excursions of 40 to 50 km by adapted bicycle on the banks of the Erdre.
In order to bring the project to fruition, Samy Dreyfuss, who is behind it, has launched an online fundraiser, available until May 16, to finance the trip. The funds will "go entirely to the project of helping these veterans, seriously injured in body and soul, feel included in society and the community," say the organizers.
The stay will also aim to "restore confidence, discipline, responsibility, joie de vivre and sociability to these heroes and allow them to overcome their nightmares and access their dreams".
"Learn to live with and overcome your disability, go beyond your limits and make an example": this is the aim of the association
“Each member was injured while defending the borders and the people of Israel. We need you to best accommodate our guests, to invite them and offer them the moments of pleasure, safety and comfort they deserve. Our needs are human, material and financial ”, add the organizers.
The funds collected will thus be used to transport equipment - tailor-made adapted bicycles, luggage and wheelchairs - or to finance housing and adapted vehicles.
For each donation made on the Handibiketrip.org site, a Cerfa receipt will be issued by the association of friends of Bet Halochem Paris, allowing a tax reduction of 66% on his donation.
