We, from Lyon, we had the honor to receive these veterans

HandiBike Trip @ Lyon
The group we welcome this evening came to cycle by bike, 40 to 50 km per day, as they do 3 or 4 times a week in Jerusalem.

This is what it feels like to welcome these veterans

This is what it feels like to receive these veterans

We are gathered tonight for reasons that might seem very different, but these differences unite us.

On the one hand, we have more and more French people who dream of going for a lifetime or a vacation in Israel and this evening we welcome Israelis who are delighted to be in France this week.

We have on one side people who are looking forward to this summer to eat a falafel pita and on the other side those who dream of a baguette and a glass of wine.

On one side we have the French who dream of aliah and the Israelis who dream of aliah on the slopes of the red cross on their bikes.

The group that we welcome this evening comes from the handybike group beit Halochem from Jerusalem.

They have in common the handicap, the Tsahal and… the bicycle.

Each of them is a hero,

They are reserve colonel, lieutenant or private.

They are intelligence officers, paratroopers or tankers

They all gave to Israel and its IDF defense army.

Each of them is a hero! each of them is a character in a novel,

but we must not, seeing them today strong, happy, full of charisma, forget the years, sufferings, pains, complications that they had to overcome. Seeing them happy is revenge and must be a common goal for all of us.

Disability, they fight every day to overcome it.

The group that we welcome this evening came to cycle by bike, 40 to 50 km per day, as they do 3 or 4 times a week in Tel Aviv.

When we were preparing the routes, they would ask me ... Are there any climbs? I answered them, not too much, we found fairly flat courses, don't worry! but they answered me “No We want climbs, we want alyot !!!

These heroes are real Zionists, they only want alyot.

We invite you on Sunday to share their daily life, an excursion, all together, from the banks of the Rhône to Meri bel Jonage, the departure is scheduled at 9:30 am under the university bridge.

This course is accessible even to beginners, even if it rains,

Sharing this experience is a strong and unforgettable moment. A rare moment too

So come in large numbers, this is also how we can show our solidarity.

We wanted this evening to be convivial and not a gala evening.

It's a contact evening, to thank the guests and their hosts for sitting together tonight at Hillel.

An evening to thank the many volunteers and donors who made it possible last year to offer an unforgettable week-long stay in Lyon, Grenoble and Geneva to a group from the beithalochem tel aviv, an evening to welcome this year this beithalochem group from Jerusalem and an evening to soon organize another stay, in Nantes, Bordeau or Budapest.
